16 December 2018: Burney Tasmania:
Today we are going to be getting on buses in the port and
then taken to the downtown area, for they say it is to busy in this port for
passengers walking around. All of us were then dropped at the Makers Workshop,
the largest boutique of handmade paper. Also had lots of local artist with
there different trades jewellery,wood turner,painters.
The weather was not looking good and rain was on the
way, just when I decided to take the wooden walk way along the sea into downtown
it started raining but was ready for that too.At first the town did not look
very promising not a beautiful place or should I say the buildings and
surrounds.
Then the heavens opened and it started pouring with rain
,ordentelike reen, sous reen,so toe is dit net skuiling soek in die winkels. a
Lot of the shops were not open for it is Sunday,so that is just one of those
things when you get to ports on a Sunday or public holiday.
Later in the morning the rain stopped and we were very lucky
to see the sun then I left on a walk about, first to the little penguin
observation centre, did see a few of them on there nests but not walking
around. Then it was time to take the road to the waterfall in the Burnie Park,on
my way I discovered the most beautiful roses and plants in this park.
I walked all the way to the top of the waterfall and then
the road took me to a local nursery where I just could not get enough of all
the beautiful plants and gifts and pots.Bought a small ornament as memento for
my scullery area where I have my houseplants,a bit heavy but worth it,all the
way from Tasmania!! Building memories.
Decided to get us a christmas cake, cookies, chocolate father
christmas, plastic wine glasses, some local cheese and a bowl for our chips.Wil
mos ook Kersfees hou op ons manier, skip style!!Needless to say I had just
arrived back on the ship and my dear hubby got stuck into all my shopping, just
to tell me he does not think that these things are goint to see Christmas!!
Today we are at sea and all my supplies are finished so
maybe I must do my shopping the day before Christmas and see if that will work!
The sea has calmed down which is great,so hopefully smoother sailing from here.Tomorrow
we are in Melbourne for the first time but hubby working so will be solo for
the day,until next time.
